Are you guys terrified of Maths just like I have been all my life? So, let me explain why I am starting my film review with a rather calculative subject. Debutant director Nitya Mehra's 'Baar Baar Dekho' is not about Math as such, but it does remain at the heart of it. Yes! Sidharth Malhotra aka Jai Varma is a genius when it comes to calculations. He is a professor and wants to research further on Vedic Mathematics.

Jai has a perplexed personality, which makes him appear a little confused at times. But he loves Diya Kapoor played by Katrina Kaif. She is beautiful, vivacious and his heart beat. The story by Sri Rao brings forth a very basic point which we all tend to overlook while living our mundane lives. 'Baar Baar Dekho' is all about enjoying your present moments and not calculating or thinking too much into 'what will happen in the future'.

This remains right at the center of the screenplay, which is written by Nitya Mehra, Anuvab Pal and Sri Rao. Not all get a chance to foresee or experience what future holds for us but Jai does. He swings back and forth in time, takes a giant leap in his life and sees what possibly he never wants to. That feeling of not being able to do much while you could have is what the film underlines.

Earlier titled as 'Kal Jisne Dekha', 'Baar Baar Dekho' has some great actors like Sarika, Ram Kapoor but with little screen space. We also have AIB's Rohan Joshi but again with not much screen time along with Sayani Gupta, who plays a small yet fun role. The pace of the film as it takes us through many years drags a bit, making you want to jump the gun and see what it holds for Jai and Diya. But I guess such is the demand of the script. Also, Rajit Kapoor's small yet interesting portrayal of a pandit will stay with you.

Ravi K. Chandran's cinematography is smooth and makes you notice the smallest detail in full zoom. Special mention to music which has been composed by Amaal Mallik, Arko, Badshah, Jasleen Royal and Bilal Saeed. It is just an absolute delight to the ears, and after a long time, we have a full album which is worth listening on loop. The 'Kala Chashma' track is a big hit already and you will definitely sit through the entire screen roll to watch Katrina and Sidharth groove to the song (you can't miss Kat's fab abs in the song). All in all a great musical treat in store for all.

The chemistry between Sid and Kat is stupendous, and certainly, after this film, we want to 'Baar Baar Dekho' them together again. They do exude a certain kind of freshness which can be tapped more on the reel.

How Jai's character grows and what happens to his relationship with Diya—their journey, hardships and struggle in keeping up with the tale or rather twist in time is what 'Baar Baar Dekho' has to offer.

It has a subtle yet very important message underlying which we all must understand and try to live every moment with the person we love the most! And yes, for once I am happily saying 'chill, if you can't hold that mathematical equation for once', as there's more to life than one plus one two!
