New Delhi: As Delhi Assembly polls results poured in predicting a drubbing for the Congress, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit sent her resignation to the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on Sunday morning Speaking to the reporters after submiiting her resignation, Sheila Dikshit said she was thankful to the Delhiites for having supported her for last 15 years. Accepting the defeat gracefully she said, "I accept the election results with due respect". When asked if the Congress failed to gauge the public mood, Sheila replied with a tinge of sarcasm,"Bewakoof hain na hum(weren`t we foolish)". According to initial trends, Sheila, who had contested the election from the New Delhi Constituency was said to be lagging behind the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) founder Arvin Kejriwal with a whopping vote margin of 15000 at noon, reports said. The Congress seems to be in for a resounding drubbing at the hands of the BJP and especially the AAP, which is said to have eaten into its share of votes. The BJP looked sure to bag victory with lead on 34 seats, while the AAP presented a brilliant debut with 24 seats in its kitty, as per the Delhi election commission website.
