Chennai: Bus services between Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh were hit on Tuesday due to the anti-Telangana indefinite strike called by government employees, including transport corporation workers, in 13 districts of the neighbouring state.

Several government-run and private buses from here did not ply to destinations in Andhra Pradesh, especially to Tirupati-Tirumala, the hill abode of Lord Venkateswara, affecting pilgrims.

Both the State Express Transport Corporation of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh Transport Corporation buses to various destinations in Andhra Pradesh were suspended in view of the strike, officials said.

State-run Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC), which organises daily package tours to the Tirumala from here, has also temporarily suspended bookings on this route due to the agitation, an official said.

"As of now we have temporarily stopped booking. Tomorrow the buses are not plying. But, we are operating on August 15 since it is also a holiday..", an official said.

Private transport operator Redbus said it also cancelled a few services to Andhra Pradesh.
