Assam government on Saturday said it has advanced the launch of the National Food Security Ordinance by a month to October 19 next.

"The dates for receipt of applications, claims and objections etc for implementation of National Food Security Ordinance 2013 has been rescheduled... The Ordinance will probably be launched on October 19, 2013 in the state," an official release said here.
Last month, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had said the government would roll out the scheme from November 19 with an aim to cover about 2.25 crore people across the state.=
As per the revised schedule, the last date for receipt of application has been fixed on August 27, 2013.
"The list will be displayed on August 30, 2013. From September 2 to 9, 2013, the claims and objections will be received. From September 9 to 26, 2013, the hearing of the claims and objection will be done," the release said.
From October 3 to November 4, the lists will be approved by the authorities concerned.
To monitor proper implementation of the scheme, the government had earlier formed a Group of Ministers. As per the scheme, rice will be available at Rs 3 per kg, while wheat and coarse cereals will be offered at Rs 2 and Re 1 respectively for each kg.
