Ghaziabad: A local court here has sentenced a teacher to ten years of imprisonment for raping his orphaned niece for 18 years.
The court of Judge Shankar Lal found Mukesh, a teacher in Modinagar, guilty of raping his niece and sentenced him to 10 year imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on him.
According to public prosecutor Pramod Kumar Tanwar, Mukesh adopted the minor daughter of his sister-in-law after her parents, who lived in Meerut, passed away.
The victim has alleged that when she was in Class IX, Mukesh started raping her and continued it for 18 years, Tanwar said.
Mukesh even mounted pressure on her to have physical relationship with him even after she was married to a man in Jaipur, he added.
Furious over this, the victim told the ordeal to her husband, who later approached the court, Tanwar said.
As the incident happened in the Modinagar area of Uttar Pradesh, this case was referred to Modinagar police station in Ghaziabad, he said.
