Truth will come only after probe: Shivpal Singh on Nagpal suspension

Uttar Pradesh PWD minister Shivpal Singh declined to comment on suspension of IAS Durga Shakti Nagpal, who clamped down on illegal mining in UP, saying that truth will come out only after an inquiry.

Sambhal (UP): Uttar Pradesh PWD minister Shivpal Singh on Monday declined to comment on the suspension of IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal, who had clamped down on illegal mining in Uttar Pradesh, saying that the truth will come out only after an inquiry. "Nothing could be said before an inquiry into the matter," Singh told reporters here during a laptop distribution programme.
A 2009-batch IAS officer posted as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Gautam Budh Nagar in September last year, Nagpal, who had taken on the powerful sand mafia in Uttar Pradesh, was suspended barely 10 months after she got her first posting in the state. The 28-year-old had led a crackdown on unauthorised mining in the district and got over two dozen FIRs registered against those involved in illegally removing sand. Special flying squads were formed by her to stop the raging menace along the Yamuna and Hindon rivers in western UP. Meanwhile, the Opposition parties have slammed the SP government over the move, alleging that the suspension order was made under pressure from the mining mafia. PTI
