Why is BJP blaming TDP govt for attack on Jaganmohan Reddy: CM Chandrababu Naidu

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on saturday questioned why the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was accusing the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for the attack on YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

"Opposition leader (Jagan Mohan Reddy) came at Visakhapatnam airport. Some person attacked him with a knife. The airport is under Central Industrial Security Force. After some time, they handed over that fellow and our people took him into custody. But the BJP accused TDP government," the CM said.

He had also termed the attack on Reddy as "drama" played on the direction of the Centre.

Meanwhile, Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Mahesh Chandra Laddha alleged that Reddy refused to corporate in the police investigation into the case. "Our Investigation Officer had gone to him but he refused to cooperate. He has said that he does not believe in police investigation. We will be informing this to the court," Laddha said.

Reddy, who is the leader of opposition in the Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly, was attacked with a sharp object at the Visakhapatnam airport on Thursday by a canteen worker in the airport.

"Yesterday, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) handed over the accused to us with some papers and all seized materials. In the evening, we formally arrested him. We will be seeking his remand for further investigation in the upcoming week," he said.

Laddha also added that the accused has confessed that he has been involved in the act. The accused also told the police that the 11-page letter was written by three people including himself.

"Out of the 11-page letter that has been seized, he is saying that nine pages were written by his sister, who stays in his village. One page is written by his co-worker and the last page is written by him. We have examined him. We are examining him further. The team has gone to the girl. Will be able to share more details only when the girl is back," he told.
