Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Congress on Wednesday filed a complaint with police seeking registration of FIR against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and state BJP, alleging that the ruling party distorted facts on development in a poll advertisement.
"We hope police would register an FIR against the BJP leaders on the basis of our complaint," said union minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat.
He said the Congress in its complaint, filed with the Habibganj Police, sought registration of FIR against president Narendra Singh Tomar and other leaders for misleading people by issuing such an advertisement.
Congress has sought registration of case under Sections 420 (offences relating to cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of IPC and under Sections 43 and 67 of IT Act.
Rawat, also the coordinator for November 25 Assembly Elections, yesterday claimed that a highway and an agricultural field shown by the ruling party in the advertisement were not even located in Madhya Pradesh.
"The Highway shown in the said advertisement ran through Durgapur in West Bengal while the field shown in it was located in Iran," Rawat said yesterday.
The Union Minister said the BJP merely copied the images from the Internet.
He alleged that the BJP, despite ruling the state for 10 years, could not even build a single highway which it can showcase in its campaign.
