Re-polling underway Rajasthan's Karanpur Assembly Constituency

JAIPUR: Re-polling is currently underway at Karanpur Assembly Constituency in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar district on Monday.

The voting, being held at booth no.163 in Karanpur, began at 8 am and will continue till 5 pm.

The Election Commission had ordered re-polling after the electronic voting machines (EVMs) were not cleared of mock poll when the actual polling began, election department sources said.

Voting in 199 out of 200 constituencies in Rajasthan was held December 7 and the counting will take place on December 11. Ramgarh constituency in Alwar district will go to poll later due to the death of BSP candidate Laxman Singh.

The state recorded a turnout of 74 per cent in polling on Friday. The BJP is trying to retain power in the state it won in 2013, while the Congress is seeking a re-election in the state.

In the current House, the BJP has 160 seats and the Congress 25.
