Having recently introduced the 320i and 520i sedans, BMW India has now launched the X3 and X5 SUVs in their petrol avatars as well. Both feature the latest generation TwinPower Turbo petrol motors and will be locally assembled at the German automaker’s plant in Chennai.

The X3 xDrive28i xLine has been priced at Rs 54.90 lakh, while the X5 xDrive35i Design Pure Experience (5 seater) can be yours for Rs 73.50 lakh (both prices ex-showroom Delhi).

Variant Watch – Petrol vs Diesel Pricing

In terms of pricing, the X3 petrol sits in the middle of the range. Here’s a look at the variant wise ex-showroom, Delhi pricing:

X3 Petrol

BMW’s middle-weight SUV gets a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol mill that produces 245PS of power and 350Nm of torque that help it achieve a claimed 0-100kmph time of 6.5 seconds – identical to the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC.

The SUV’s feature list includes bi-xenon headlights with daytime running LEDs, LED foglights, a panorama glass roof and a 2-zone climate control. It also gets BMW’s iDrive touch infotainment system with navigation and a 205W, 9-speaker sound system.

X5 Petrol

The X5 petrol employs a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that makes 306PS of power and 400Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100kmph sprint in just 6.5 seconds. This is identical to the X3 xDrive28i’s sprint time and about 0.5 seconds behind the GLE400 4MATIC, which Mercedes-Benz launched in August this year at Rs 74.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The big SUV gets features like adaptive LED headlights, a powered tailgate, heated wing mirrors with integrated LED indicators and a 4-zone climate control. It also gets the iDrive touch infotainment system with a Harman Kardon 600 W, 16-speaker sound system

Both, the X3 and X5 get all-wheel drive with the output transmitted through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. It remains to be seen, if and when, the X1 and X6 will be offered with petrol motors.
