Volvo has launched its flagship sedan in the country – the S90 –  at Rs 53.5 lakh (pre-octroi ex-showroom, Mumbai), while the deliveries will begin from next month.

The luxury sedan is based on the same scalable product architecture (SPA) as the XC90 SUV and rivals heavyweights like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 and Jaguar XF. Keep scrolling to take a quick look at what’s on offer.

The Looks

The Volvo S90 is, without a doubt, one tasty piece of eye candy. It’s a classy exterior highlighted by elements like the ‘Thor’s Hammer’ daytime running LEDs, concave front grille with floating-effect slats, a clean side profile with chrome highlights, and C-shaped tail lights at the rear. You also get door-mounted wing mirrors, full LED headlights and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The Cabin

On the inside, the dashboard sports a clean layout. There are barely any buttons present because features like the navigation, 4-zone climate control and 19-speaker Bowers and Wilkins sound system are all controlled through a 9-inch central touchscreen. Almost everything is draped in Nappa leather, including the seats. The front seats are not only ventilated, they get a wide range of electric adjustment options too. Here’s a look at the other features on offer:

    Walnut wood décor inlays
    Auto-dimming rear view mirrors
    Powered sunroof
    Powered boot-lid
    Cruise control
    Heads-up display
    Rear fold-up booster seats
    Rear seat side sun blinds

Of course, there’s a lot of safety tech too, including front, side and curtain airbags, ABS, emergency brake assist, ISOFIX, park-assist, lane-keep assist and a lot more.

Engine Options

The Volvo S90 will only be available with the ‘D4’ 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that makes 190PS of power and 400Nm of torque. Transmission is through an 8-speed automatic gearbox that channels the output only to the front wheels. What’s more is that you also get the ‘Eco’, ‘Dynamic’ and ‘Comfort’ drive modes that adjust the behavior of the engine, gearbox, steering and rear air-suspension, based on the drive scenario.
