Jammu: Aiming at promoting herbal cultivation in the state, the Jammu and Kashmir government has launched a central-aided scheme under which the government will provide fund to farmers for medicinal plant cultivation.
"In order to promote herbal cultivation, National Mission on Medicinal Plants scheme was launched in the state during 2009-10. However, it is still in the stage of infancy," JK
Horticulture Minister Sham Lal Sharma told the legislative Assembly in reply to a query.
He said the horticulture department is making efforts to create awareness among the farmers about medicinal plant cultivation.
Under the scheme, the government will also provide incentives to farmers who switch over from traditional crops to medicinal plants.
