School girl raped by autorickshaw driver

New Delhi: A nine-year-old girl was kidnapped from Delhi by an autorickshaw driver who raped her in Uttar Pradesh`s Ghaziabad, the Delhi Police said on Monday. The driver has been arrested.

Omprakash, 42, was arrested on Monday by Delhi investigators from his hideout in Ghaziabad for raping the girl on Saturday afternoon after kidnapping her from outside her school in east Delhi`s Seemapuri area, police said. "The accused persuaded the girl to board his auto-rickshaw on the pretext of dropping her home in Ghaziabad. Instead, he took her to a secluded spot and raped her," said a police officer. After the rape, the attacker dumped the girl at Ghaziabad`s Mohan Nagar area from where she reached home with the help of another autorickshaw driver, police said. The girl lives in Ghaziabad`s Shalimar Garden area and studies in Class 3 in a school in Delhi`s Seemapuri, police said. IANS
