Indian National Congress

The Indian National Congress (INC) has bet big on a win in Bihar assembly elections. Contesting from 41 seats, the national party under Sonia Gandhi is the junior partner in the Mahagthbandhan which also has RJD and JD(U) as constituents (both parties are contesting from 101 seats each). Ever since Bihar saw the rise of the JP movement and emergence of the Janata Parivaar, the Congress has been on a steady slide in the political crucial state. With Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi leading from the front and the added support from the strong vote base of RJD and JD(U), the Congress hopes to reverse the long standing trend and find a firm footing in state. A win is also important for the Congress at it will act as an elixir after the Lok Sabha poll debacle.
