Former Ranveer Sena area commander among three killed in Bihar

Three persons, including a top leader of the outlawed private militia Ranveer Sena, were killed by unidentified assailants at Durgapur village in Rohtas district, the police said on Wednesday.

Sasaram: Three persons, including a top leader of the outlawed private militia Ranveer Sena, were killed by unidentified assailants at Durgapur village in Rohtas district, the police said on Wednesday.

Dhanji Singh, a former area commander of the Ranveer Sena, his driver Shashi Pandey and bodyguard were gunned down while they were travelling in a car late last night, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Sasaram, Alok Ranjan said.

He said investigation was on.

An outlawed private army of upper caste landlords, the Ranveer Sena was involved in several massacres in central Bihar districts like Sasaram, Bhojpur, Jehanabad and Gaya in the past. The private militia has been on the wane over the past one decade.
