Lalu Prasad raises a stink, hits Nitish Kumar with toilet joke

PATNA: Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Saturday let his witty side out when he took on his estranged ally and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the alleged Rs 13.50 crore toilet scam in the state.

"People used to say Lalu ate fodder in the so-called fodder scam. So what will these people say now in the toilet scam? What did Nitish Kumar eat," (Chara ghotale mein log bolte the Lalu chara kha gaya, aaj shauchalaya ghotale mein wo kya bolenge. Nitish kya kha gaya?), the RJD chief tweeted.

Lalu attacked the Bihar CM claiming that hundreds of toilets were made just on paper. He added, "will you not even leave toilets now. The CM is honest, right?" (Bihar mein ab crores ka shauchalaya ghotalea. Kagazo mein hi hazaaron shauchalaya kha gayi Nitish sarkar. shauchalaya bhi nhi chode. CM imandar hai, hai na?)

An alleged toilet scam during 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 has surfaced under Lohiya Swachh Bihar Abhiyan in which it was found that money meant for the beneficiaries was routed through four NGOs instead of making it available directly. Officials say there is no record that it finally reached the real beneficiaries.

"Two government officials helped four NGOs to get away with crores meant for toilet construction," an official said.

An FIR has been lodged against PHED (Public Health Engineering Department) Executive Engineer Binay Kumar, department accountant Biteshwar Prasad Singh and four NGOs - Adishakti Sewa Sansthan, Maa Sarveshwari Sewa Sansthan, Satyam Shivam Kala Kendra and Shiv Sewa Sansthan.
