Karisma Kapoor: Destiny’s miracle
Born into the Bollywood’s royal Kapoor family, the daughter of actors- Randhir Kapoor and Babita, Karisma Kapoor is the ‘first’ Kapoor girl to foray into Indian film industry. With a charming personality, unmatched beauty and terrific smile, Lolo, as she is popularly known as, has the knack of fluttering millions of hearts with her charisma and amazing dance moves.
With acting in her veins, Karisma- the miracle, as her name suggests, has proved her acting prowess in around 100 films. She made her debut at the age of seventeen in Bollywood in 1991 with the semi-hit movie ‘Prem Qaidi’. She didn’t look back after that and went on to give many brilliant and commendable performances. A dedicated and a hard-working girl, Karisma’s chemistry with Govinda is till date one of the most popular pairing of Bollywood which gave various hit comedy films that left the audience in splits.
Hailing from the family of legendary actors, blue-eyed diva Karisma Kapoor has won adulation for her acting skills. 'Raja Hindustani' (1996), 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai' (1997), 'Fiza' (2000), 'Zubeidaa' (2001), are some of the remarkable films of her 21 years long career that brought awards and recognition to the very talented heroine.
With one prestigious National Film Award and four Filmfare Awards in her kitty, Karisma made her presence felt at the small screen by playing the protagonist role in a tele-serial, ‘Karishma: The Miracle of Destiny’ in 2003.
The pretty actress entered into matrimony with Delhi-based industrialist, Sanjay Kapoor in 2003. The couple are blessed with two children, Samaira and Kiaan Raj Kapoor. But sadly, the marriage ran into troubled waters since 2004 onwards. Although, the couple have tried to reconcile and make their marriage work, the rift between the two is evident.
For the last nine years, the actress has tried to balance her personal and professional life. After acting in `Baaz: A Bird in Danger`, she took a brief sabbatical of three years from 2003-2006 post marriage. But Karisma has never been out of lime light or away from media too much. In fact, she keeps getting offers to judge reality shows. She has been part of dance reality show, Nach Baliye 4 as one of the three judges in 2008.
Apparently Karisma, who has seen many ups and downs in her 21 year old career, is said to be giving tips to her younger sister and actress, Kareena Kapoor, to get into the skin of her character, for her upcoming high-profile movie ‘Heroine’ being directed by ace director Madhur Bhandarkar.
Recently, her much-talked about comeback film was Vikram Bhatt’s ‘Dangerous Ishq’ which was released in 3-D format. The movie was based on supernatural thriller but didn’t do too well at the Box Office, but her stellar performance was lauded not only by the audiences but also by film critics.
Films or no films, Karisma continues to make her diva-like presence on screen through various advertisements and brands she endorses.
The lady still gets loads of offers from filmmakers and will remain a darling of the masses.
Here’s wishing a very happy birthday and long blissful life to Karisma Kapoor who turns 38 this year!
