Shame on you Delhi Police…

Shock and grief are wounds which are inflicted by people who are meant to protect their citizens. Yes, we are talking about Delhi Police, the custodians of law who are supposedly the pride of the national capital. Their slogan reads - with you for you always. But do they understand the true meaning of this phrase?

Delhi Police has been found to be wanting and on the wrong side of the law many a times; they have also been tainted by a series of controversies.

This was proven beyond doubt by a recent incident which brought to the fore the apathy with which the men in khaki treat the lesser mortals. An elderly gentleman was pushed and shoved by a police constable when he tried to stop the cop from beating his son near Dhaula Kuan area. The family was coming back home when their car broke down. What followed was no less than a nightmare. Their only fault was that they considered a policeman the right person to ask for water for their car. The deceased person’s so
n had little idea that seeking help from the policeman would result in a tragedy which the family would perhaps never recover from.

Instead of helping the family, the cop got into an unprovoked altercation with the man’s son and became violent with him. When the elderly gentleman intervened, the cop shoved him too after which he fell unconscious and suffered a cardiac-arrest leading to his death.

This behaviour and attitude is highly condemnable and the guilty should be given the strictest of punishments. He should not be spared at any cost because his attitude has led to an innocent person losing his life without any fault of his. It is unimaginable what the family must be going through. This brutal and shocking incident has once again shaken the faith of the citizens in the police force.

It’s a matter of utter shame that the callous and inhumane nature of Delhi Police has devastated a happy family. It is scary to think that approaching the police in need of hour can put you in more trouble rather than providing a solution to your problem.

In such situation, the big question which comes to my mind is what do we do with such policemen who rather than helping people, behave in such high-handed manner that it can result in the death of a senior citizen?

This side of Delhi Police is astounding – there is an urgent need to overhaul the whole system for the betterment of the society. Being the protectors of the people in the national capital, the least that is expected from them is a sensible behaviour. It is the basic right of the citizens to get all possible help from the police.

Another example of Delhi Police’s carelessness came to light when a chief security officer of a five- star hotel was assaulted by a group of 10-12 goons. Shockingly, a police PCR van didn’t bother to intervene after seeing the incident. I really wonder why the Delhi Police is tolerating such irresponsible people in their organization when they are good for nothing.

Rarely a day goes by in Delhi when there are no incidents of molestation, rape or harassment of women. Besides this, numerous complaints of robbery, snatching, murders, kidnapping, injustice, etc. are lodged everyday in police stations across the city.

From a small child to a senior citizen, no one can say that they feel secure because of Delhi Police.

Surprisingly, Delhi Police is the biggest metropolitan police in the world with 149 police stations and a fleet of around 386 PCR vans located at different points all over the capital. It is imperative that the law enforcement agency is imparted basic etiquettes so that their negligence does not become the reason of someone’s death.

Policemen should never forget that they are meant to provide protection to its citizens and they should strive to give their best under all circumstances so that people do not think twice or hesitate in approaching the police. They should refrain from abusing power and need to abide by their motto of ‘citizens first’.

Don’t forget - what can you expect from the citizens when you, the law-protectors are becoming law-breakers…

you, people always blame on others, if you think that police is not doing their duty well, then come and join police and improve its working. it is very easy to blame on others.

economic offence wing (eow) is said to have been formed/created by the govt. to look into the economic offences relating to (a) forgery (b) cheating (c) criminal breach of trust (d) cyber crime (e) criminal conspiracy with a team of about 300 officers. the common man contributes from pocket for the salary and comforts of eow to get speedy justice against economic crime under one roof.

i am shocked to know on meeting the authorities of eow that there is standing order 173 issued by delhi police that debars eow to register cases unless the victim do not suffer a loss of rs.2 crore. i am sure mass public shall agree that there is hardly 0.2% elite and rich population that has such huge cash asset. alternatively the the specialized services of eow is meant for such 0.2% elite and rich class of people in society at the cost of common man`s bread and butter.

the common man is deprived of the services of eow and treated less privileged class and baseline is created in society between rich and poor by delhi police by virtue of the standing order 173. no voice has been raised so far against the brutal assassination of equality and justice enshrined under the constitution. the secret standing order 173 is not made available on demand to common man is peculiar stance of delhi police to deny the least legitimate rights of countrymen and share transparency of the system with the citizen.

is there anyone to take up the issue with delhi police without fear and favour for the cause of common man?

they have forgotten , they are public servants who are there to serve the citizens n protect them rather have a hangover of it and abuse the power . in the movie superman there was a line saying ` with great power comes great responsibility` ..doesn`t work in the real world for delhi police at least . what they forget is the world is not run by them , it is run by god . if you do wrong , you will be judged for it . maybe you can get the wrongs done for a while , but not for long .nomatter how much injustice you do , justice will be done in the end because the world is not run by humans but by god and those who are the devils end will realize it . it has been happening since centuries n it will continue to go that ways .delhi police mend your ways else would be mended by god`s will .

mr.badman.....as par my past experience with the cops in delhi,i agree with the fact, cops should realize their inhuman behavior and should learn how to be polite.every capital in the world comprises of major hostile that does not mean delhi police going to put all the blame to them, they had to admit there is gap in obligation of duty and we are not in the race to say new york has more rapes than delhi, but fact is delhi police report only 6 out of 10 rape victim.capital should practice humanity.

not only delhi police, i think all police system in india has a hangover of ``power``, by showing off their power to powerless. it is pointless to think about changing the attitude of police, because they are trained mentally to be authoritative and strict in order to stop crimes. added to this is the fact that they come across many criminals in their normal daily routine than normal civilians. how can such people who see more criminals and investigates the crimes turn to become mother theresa like or gandhi like? ofcourse,as in every society there would also be bad people in police, but situation like the above would show their real colors and its the police department who should take action to remove such scum bags. i think in spite of all this, the police force is trying to do their best even though there are many pit falls. what remains is how can you change the present force to a betterone? we need practical suggestions from learned, experienced people.

Batman - here
trivia - new york has more rapes accuring than new delhi (verify it using governmnet/ngo data). no city is perfect but the hyperactive indian media`s potrayal of delhi being the eye of hell is truly astounding. true that the cops should be sensitized towards their responsibilty as the protectors but saying that the entire fabric of policing in the city is in tatters is simply irresponsible. managing a city of the size of the national capital, along with such a large population (a majority of which is hostile, courtesy of the influx of the testosterone driven neighbouring states), is not as easy as one can make it sound in print. has the author even tried to do some hands-on research before writing a loosely structured apocalyptic blog? kindly spend a few weeks sitting with the pcr vans and you`ll see that its not just black and white, there are a gazillion other factors that stunt the action taking of the cops. agreed they can set better working examples but hey, let`s not just write them off so callusly, while calling them callus.

mr. batman, when indian team loose we blame the whole indian team and when it wins we praise the whole indian team. same is with the politicans. then why cannot it be for the policemen. when anyone raises a question on the department they really doesnot mean that everyone is bad or culprit but many of them are. so i think that you should rather pay attention to the number of incidents taking place of such policemen instead of blaming preeti on her article. we should concentrate on the punishment these policemen are getting. the above mentioned incident is almost a murder. lets see what term these shameless cops get. should be at least 15 years.

not siding with police but these guys are grossly over-stressed and lead a very strenous life with all sort of politics and pressures from the seniors.

world avg. is 260 cops whereas in india we have half the world avg. that too when we live in a dangerous neighbourhood. we should be having over 500 cops per lakh of people.

no one feels secure with the police around .the constable don`t have any manners to speak even ,forget getting help from them . they can make excuses of long working hours n tight schedules but does that mean they have the right to harass the citizens !! does the law allow it !! i would like to know one section of the law book that allows the cops to raise hands or harass people on the street . or maybe it is delhi police that makes and breaks the law !!! being in the capital is insecure , so one could imagine what is the plight in rest of the country .i wish there were stronger laws that would restrict them from abusing the law .there seems to be no department beyond them where we can ask help from .in the busy schedule that we have , we do we approach if the police itself harass us !!!

some cops do not actually represents the whole police community...to be honest india is a corrupted country and the corruption runs from top to bottom. now same goes with the power.

the only problem is when these corrupted and arrogant officers get by with everything, they loose all the sense of emotions and responsibilties. what i think is india scan only prosper if it can become a communist state with a 100 % honest communist leader

hope our great hm and pm are listening... or are they still busy with their respective obsessions? pm - ``gdp is 5% this fiscal year...`` hm - ``there is trust-deficit...`` you know both are great economists, and they have one thing in similar. both are bookish. who cares if a normal citizen die? now robert wadhera also want to enter congress... they may be more interested in promoting that. also, hm will have to ensure that he is free from the 2g thing... cleverly he has played within the rule. there is absolutely no hope. aisa raha to hum kabhi nahi kamyab honge, bas gate reh jayenge `hum honge kamyab`

delhi police: is capable of collecting money from those people, who are putting submersible, making some alteration in their houses, shopkeepers, kabadiwala, collecting money in parks, and putting embarrassment to people of delhi. we were thinking the top cop mr. gupta may take some stringent action like mrs. bedi but nothing. they (junior level upto si) shoule be transferred to arunachal or some far flung areas and people posted here should be like tihar jail police i.e. tamilnadu police. there services should be made inter state transfers so that in case they take law into their own hand, they should be terminated and not suspended.
