Suresh Kalmadi's Smirk

I won't bore you with the dreadful puns on the order of the boot, but is Suresh Kalmadi seriously out of it? I refer to the grin or smirk if you prefer and the stately royal wave that he treated the imagined multitudes to on the way to prison via court.

Obviously, poor Suresh was never the brightest bulb as he seems to be the only one paying the price for the rottenly corrupt Commonwealth Games. Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit and M S Gill who are equally culpable seem to have even escaped a rap on the knuckles.

But, to return to Kalmadi and the Rhino armour plated hide of our sainted politicians. Did Kalmadi think he was on the promenade in his favourite vacation spot of Nice with a bunch of friends while his favorite chumps the tax payers were being gouged? Did he actually mistake the policemen accompanying for his free-loading friends or his private security?

Maybe in the delusional state common to the Indian politician otherwise called delusions of g
randeur, Kalmadi actually thought he was waving to his constituents in Pune while on his way to Tihar.

It was quite a display. We always knew our politicians thought that they were a law unto themselves, but to go so bravely to face the wrath of the law and that to when you have been chargesheeted in a case of corruption. It requires effrontery which only the Indian politician can rise to.

The smirk reminded me of his visits to the poo-infested CWG village in his Audi. This time around he told a CBI official,''Can't you do this in the monsoon, you are interfering in my summer plans.'' Some dis-associative state this.

The CBI had to cool its heels while Kalmadi had a mini-break. And, we the suffering multitudes have to now ensure that Madame Dikshit and Mr Gill do not get away with the orgy of loot they also participated in.

As any denizen of Delhi will testify money was looted and nothing of any lasting value was created. Do not be satisfied with a eight day CBI custody of Kalmadi. That is what the canny politician is banking on. Kalmadi is thrown to the wolves and promptly expelled by the Congress so that the party lives to fight another day.

What about the others?

Fair-play and justice and above all accountability demand that they pay a price. So that the next time a politician is marched off to jail, they do not delude themselves in thinking that it is a sign of overwhelming love and support.

I have to wonder. Maybe, Kalmadi knows something we don't. Maybe under his breath he was saying ''suckers''.

totally useless all this inquiry, committee, investigation. year after year, committee, investigation all this go on and on and on!! give me one example where any minister or billionaire in india has been sentenced penalty in terms of jail! dont count 5 or 1 month jail. most important what you will get by all this investigation. in hindi we say ``jabban se nikele shabd wabas nahi aate`` in same way ``gaya paisa kabhi wabas nahi aata``. so leave all this bull nonsense and use all resources which are spending on this investigation to some other meaningful mean. if you want to eradicate corruption so stop it before it occurs please do not cry (for investigations) after it happens, its totally useless. in same way, do you think by spending our precious minds in all the nonsense going on in 2g scam we (common man) will get anything. nothing i tell you nothing for common man, even if it is proved the 2g case goi has not the will to cancel license of any big bangs(tata, ambani, unitech etc.) of india to recover the money. also, please look at the positive side delhi is now a place to be proud of road transport, better roads, good infrastructure is in place now only because of cwg. earlier, it was a pain to wander in delhi but now it is pleasure to be there.

yes, infamous kalmadi is only a scpegot. the real people who pocketed the kickbacks are someone else and we all well know who they are. now, since almadi has been arrested and in the safe hand (unless he got killed in the prinson itself by the higher authorities of the politicians), it is right time for him to spill the beans. let us, the indians know who all are/were the real beneficieries. if kalmadi still feel that his godfathers will come rescue him, he is totally wrong. let him come out with the real name of the beneficiries. so do raja, they are the foot warriors, the real chariot warriors are still enjoying their life nd clean in public. come on kalmadi, you will have an endless list of the real beneficiries, we all know it, but let it come out of your mouth.

i bow my head to the feet of swati chaurvedi for her journalistic acumen and professional competence in bringing out the fads of that thick skin, shameless and politically broke suresh kalmadi whose true colours are now exposed for all to see, when he is now cooling his heels behind he bars for his dubious role in conducting the cwg, 2010. by his false sense of pride, stubbornness and dodging the law of the land, suresh kalmadi could escape the cbi dragnet, when his close aides were already behind the bars. but at last, the law has caught on to suresh kalmadi who must pay for all his wrong doings. the wrath of the people`s anger is visible when someone had thrown chappal at kalmadi inside the court premises. also angry mob breaking/damaging kalmaadi`s office in pune is another example of people`s frusration with kalmadi.

i can smell the entire contents of your article from just one line. close similarity to bjp`s `policy` of the day is a sure give-away. after having gunned for and got the head of kalmadi, you are now sending unguided missiles in all directions

whatever may be the case suresh kalmadi is not a baby so that he would not be able to discriminate corrupt practices and say no to it in case if someone had coereced him into make money by dubious means , at the most they would have sacked from the position and some one would had done the job, again it is all scapegoat non sense , all are party to the same. it is only your own individual conscience whether you want to be righteous person or not.
