Why can’t we have a Lakshman-Rekha for men?

a
Ever since the nameless ‘braveheart’ paramedical student was mercilessly gang-raped by six men in December, a constant sense of fear has been lingering in the minds of women across the country. Not that stories of rapes prior to this gory incident hadn’t come to the fore, but the way the 23-year-old was brutally gang-raped, every single day since then has become a challenge of sorts in terms of safety for women in the country.

And with powerful people seated in the cosy comforts of their VVIP cushioned chairs amid tight security passing bizarre remarks about what kind of women can protest and what kind of sexual assaults should be termed as rape, here comes yet another preposterous statement.

Kailash Vijayvargiya, a BJP leader and Cabinet Minister in the MP government said, “Ek hi shabd hai - Maryada. Maryada ka ulanghan hota hai, toh Sita-haran ho jata hai. Laxman-rekha har vyakti ki khichi gayi hai. Us Laxman-rekha ko koi bhi par karega, toh Ravan samne baitha hai, woh Sita-haran karke le jayega. (One word- conduct. If a woman goes beyond her limits, then she will be treated like Sita. Every person has to abide by the Lakshman-Rekha. Whoever decides to disobey the boundary, they will fall prey to Ravan. He will abduct her and flee.”

My question to Vijayvargiya is that why can’t the same Lakshman-Rekha apply to men who think it’s their birth right to impose limits on wome
n. And who gives men the authority to “punish” women?

As if we hadn’t had enough of rubbish from the likes of Abhijit Mukherjee and Kakoli Ghosh, a statement like this only exposes the mindset of Indian men, who think women are inanimate objects.

None from the system is coming up with an effective solution to curb crime against women. On the contrary, women are being asked “not to wear skirts”, “conduct themselves properly”, “to not travel post 8 pm” and “to not cross the Lakshman-Rekha”. And we say India is a democratic nation! It seems, democracy applies to men alone; who says women here are humans too!

Coming back to Vijayvargiya’s remarks on Sita - why couldn’t he ask the men in the country to behave like Lord Rama, who is popularly known as Maryada Purushottam - the one who adhered to his principles. Can’t men in the country take a leaf out of Lord Rama’s book and conduct themselves in a respectable manner. Why is Sita being dragged to represent womanhood?

Isn’t that being too unjust Mr Vijayvargiya? Hypocrisy is omnipresent and he seems to have absorbed it thoroughly. So much so that he has put his sane senses to rest.

The society is full of people like the Abhijit Mukherjees, the Kakoli Ghoshs and the Kailash Vijayvargiyas who behave nothing less than the way Khaps do- perhaps sophisticated versions of the orthodox system infamous for ridiculing women.

Does that mean that right from the judiciary to the socio-political system, a woman will be held accountable for the wrongs that happen to her?

Does that mean the nation cares the least for women who succumb to atrocities committed on them? Will ‘Nirbhaya’ - the anonymous girl’s sacrifice go in vain?

Brutally raping women has become common in society. The horrific incident of an 11-year-old girl gang-raped by six men in Rajasthan in August has come to the fore now. Four of the accused are now out on bail. And this substantiates the fact that the government doesn’t value a woman’s life. The little girl has already undergone 11 major reconstructive surgeries post the ghastly incident and her family is striving hard to sustain amidst constant threats to keep silent on the issue.

Just pick up the newspaper, and you will see endless cases. Looks like India has indeed turned deaf, blind and dumb, for it only talks of having Laksham Rekhas for women!

Really, enough is enough!

even guys who are voicing up to the brutal acts also have fairly equal thoughts. please mind when i say guys i am pointing to at least 80 to 90 percent of them. i am not being a female chauvinist. what i mean is really true to my conscience. they don’t come up because they don’t need to or they are scared, but surely can at some point of time. but why are people being so hungry for sex? exposure to sensuous videos, films and images which make even a nonchalant get aroused. intentionally or accidentally people get to see such pop-ups and prompts while browsing. because those are the most browsed things on internet.watching blue films can only arouse you but doesn’t help you in anyway. is this a way to enjoy life, wine, women and cigar? when you watch a blue film, please think on humanitarian grounds, what’s happening with the girl. more than money she needs respect. the less exposed one is to such things, the more controlled one can be. and the more controlled one is, the less one get exposed to such things.

during last 8-10 days i read too many views on code for girls and i am very much confused who is right/wrong. i am from a remote hilly area of uttarakhand. sometimes i recollect my childhood and compare those days with prevailing scenario of the country (does not make difference if a calls india or b says bharat), a considerable change has taken place in our society. i can say we have gone back to the age where survival of mighty principal works. i do not want anyone to believe me because my son and daughter also do not take me seriously, in their views i learn these stories in my primary school. during my early age 5-6 years, elders use to teach me manners, how to respect elders even 1 day elder to me. gone are those days when boys use to get orders to escort females up to their home, those ladies/girls were not afraid of males but dogs and jackals. water source, a natural spring was 2 kms away from the village which was the only bathing point for two villages. that spring was out of bound for males between 8 to 10 am, school going boys/girls were required to fetch water for ill/old people, no one dare to break this unwritten rule, never heard any rape case till i left that heaven to earn my livelihood. responsibility of safeguard of girls was not limited to their respective families only, whole village was equally responsible. i do not claim there were no idiots but chachaji/chachiji/tauji/taiji/dadaji above all dadee was capable enough to motivate them, bring them up as per the standards set by the local society. few decades back a slogan was aired “we are marching to a better tomorrow”, i wonder how deep we have marched and the depth we have to go further. i forgot to mention my worries, my daughter wants to study in a management college at pune. both i and my wife are thinking again and again whether we must allow her in this lawless jungle or otherwise. tehri dam has engulfed my village so i can go back nowhere, the beasts do not allow me my right of liberty and to complete the chaos i have elected most dangerous beasts for my safety.

punish the police and not entire indian men
indian feminists taking full advantage of this incident.we have enough laws to protect and punish the criminals.the best example is of kasab who was given a fair trial and punished accordingly and the entire world appreciated india on this.we are a civilized country and we cannot behave like nomads or have rules like middle east.as long as there are bad elements in society incidents like rap#,murde#,shootouts happens which can only be stopped when our police do their duty.if only making laws we could stop crimes there would be no murde# anywhere.the indian feminists want to create law by which it gives police to arrest a man by simple complaint of a women which is very dangerous.the best example is laws lke 498a and dv which was created by these feminists and by this law by mere false complaint of a wife police arrest husband and his old parents and family members without any investigation, arresting people without proving guilty is biggest human rights violation.why make laws to punish men for this, its the police who should be punished and laws should be made to punish the police for not doing its duty.

very well said javed.its a shame that due to this 6 men the feminist group has portrayed entire men as devils and criminals.laws should be made gender neutral and police should do its duty.the entire blame of this incident should go to the police and the corrupt government and not on indian men.

now if the moderator so kindly allows this to pass
================================================
the brutal truth

1. india today has a large number of men - who are socially frustrated

2. many of these men are also subject to economic woes

3. such men also have vices like alcohol

4. invariably they look for opportunity to attack - and they will do it if they think they can get away with it

5. the answer here is the law - everyone knows how it can be quickly fixed - no one is ready to take it

solution

1. stage some encounters of gang rapists (approval should be vetted in secret) and you are likely to experience a sharp decline

2. award death penalty in cases of gang rape and rape plus death.

3. better policing and change of attitude (slow process but can start)

critical last thought

women are not really to be blamed for rape but they too have a role to play.

1. many urban women tend to flaunt - does not lead to rape - as these women would be doing it in a comfortable and secure zone (say mall or travel trough private vehicles)

2. they end up getting the goat (read intoxicating) of vile men (and there are many of them)

3. these men then attach - not necessarily the wearer - but anyone they can lay their hands on - securely

4. analysis result - short or provocative clothes do not directly impact rapes. but they act as stimulants in the mind of some men - when they feel unable to reach any such women by a flagpole. media and porn too has an impact (read unnatural sex being highlighted now - it is a direct result of porn)

more about women

1. they can be cruel and so of them are not averse to labeling false accusations

2. gold-digging is a pastime for many

final thoughts

the women who died in this incident was a hero. no - not a heroine - but a hero - she resisted - she fought - she did not give up - and she just came out of a theater playing life of pi - she may not be rich - but she was rich in her values. in a land full of cowards - she has become a legend.
(she will be avenged)

i agree with mr.mukesh. dressing sense is essential for girls. even a male is fear to go outside in the night then how it is possible for female. we cant blaim the government or even police. we have to do our own safety. it is not possible for any government to deploy much police force to the streets in a country like india where populations are very high. government is having their own limitation

i feel some people who shout that it is the right of a female to wear skimpy clothes and also support nudity in the media in the name of freedom of expression , have basically the same mindset as those of the male rapists , who think that it is also their birth right to have sex and rape with whoever possible & whenever they want. in fact the problem here is that both of these group of people only remember their rights , not duties and responsibilities. it has become necessary now to check the growing trend of displaying and seeing women as ``sex object`` through the spread of nudity and vulgarity in our media & society. i believe a morally clean and positive society is the need of the hour.

ajit, there is a fundamental error in your comparison. women that wear skimpy clothes in the name of freedom of expression are not harming anyone in any way, nor are they forcing others to do something against their will. on the other hand, rape is a forceful act and it is absolutely wrong for anyone to consider it their ``right``. what you are implying is the same as saying you should have the right to beat someone up because they are being extremely irritating.. not true!

well, so how come that there are countries in which everyone has the freedom of self-expression and to wear or do whatever she/he likes as long as no one else is hurt??? think about it. the posts i read here are more shocking than anything cause it displays men`s arrogance and sense of superiority. but in india machist culture will go down as it did in so many other countries. it`s a matter of time. just, reading these comments it seems to me it`ll take a long long time. happy not to be indian and proud of all indian women who stay strong and fight!!!

wake up we are in 2013 and not back in 1530 though, some countries still are, i agree. life is to be enjoyed and everyone should stick to her-/himself and only judge her-/himself and not others. most people will be so busy with this that there is no time anymore to even think about judging others.

please do not blame each other. do not bring lord rama or goddess sita in this context. both are worthy of worship. men and women both must behave humanly. it has become a fashion to always blame men. women are quiet... when women declare to go nude, when they are caught in drunk driving, when they are caught smoking drug hookah, when they are caught taking drugs in rave party, when they are caught in dance bar selling body. public should demand death sentence in all such cases also. first deserve then desire. respect each other. madan lal gupta, harianawala.

if the bar girls and prostitutes would not have been there in the society then just imagine the % of rape happening in india, they are the one`s who sell their body to satisfy the animals (man) of the country. and according to me if a women is completely covered or nude does not matter coz its the thoughts, dirty mind of a man that leads to rape and eve teasing.

you are sooo right madan ji,first deserve then desire.by the way all the things you mentioned in your short speech, men do all of that too,so why dont they get raped by men or other women?it has become a fashion to always blame men?the fashion raging since lord ram`s time is to blame women, sita`s agnipariksha despite being devoted to ram is proof enough.respect comes form the simple understanding that human life and choices are sarcosanct and teaching that to our children.then we will deserve the respect that we desire, as humans first and men and women second.

to all the men who think women should stop dressing up in ways that would attract men, grow up!!! was the girl who was raped scantily dressed? was she revealing anything? what makes u think that pervert ideas would not prop up in a man`s head if he saw a woman fully covered? the problem is with us men. man up and start to respect women everywhere. it`s their choice to wear what they want, how they want and when they want. if you don`t like it deal with it. if you can`t control your desires, look away.we as men do not have the right to abuse and sexually assault women just because we cannot keep our pants zipped up. grow up!!!! and to the guy who gave the example of nations like usa and europe, with the amount of skin being shown there, the ratio of rapes is far less than what happens in india. to all the people who think women are the reason for such rapes, you are wrong. nobody dresses up to be raped. and if you still believe a woman`s dress code is the reason, start tying your wives, daughters and sisters like cattle and chop off your male organs. you don`t deserve to be called men. shame on you... shame on us.

thank you mr. bakhshi. alas you are a small minority when it comes to progressive thinking mindsets. if exposure allows rape, may we ask every man exposing himself to pee on the side of the wall to be raped? by not finding a private toilette and answering natures call whereever, are they asking for it? please note you dont see women peeing anywhere and everywhere and they too have the same urgency to ,go`. anyone that blames women for rape is savage, period. i dont expect them to have the ability to self inspect and reach that conclusion. they are indeed disabled.

why girls are not accepting that wearing of small and tight cloth. which shows shape of every single parts of there body, is more than sufficient to attract any man of any age. keep in mind everybody is not your father or brother

i am surprise that not a single news channel is talking about porn sites, which is the major reason for this types of crime, 90% young people are carrying porn videos on there mobiles. please ban these porn sites first.

today, i see the ratio of rapes in other country, usa, australia, europe are on top, where the nudity is high. we can`t stop this crime by asking mens ki nazar gandi hai, yes it is true mens ki nazar gandi hai, if the girls are showing mens will see. nobody can stop them. so it is up to you.

so men can`t stop themselves when they see woman who is dressed `sexy`? they can only resist their urges when there are witnesses present? i feel a great relief to hear that, because if i see man dressed in an expensive suit, wearing an expensive gold wristswatch, maybe even cufflinks and rings of gold - i simply can`t help myself from clubbing him down or stabbing him, taking all he got for myself along with his iphone and fat wallet! i have no money, i really do need money - right now - and it is the other man`s fault for flaunting his wealth. if he had dressed more modestly, and kept his rolex and apple iphone and his jewelry hidden under his clothes all the time, i wouldn`t have robbed him! my conscience is clean again! it is not my fault, because i simply can`t help it!

ks, i think you are really mistaken. no matter what a girl wears, nothing in the world gives anyone the right to rape her. while, wearing good clothes is a wise decision, it is the girl`s personal choice. each male is responsible for his own behavior. unfortunately, rapes do not occur where there is nudity. the ratio of rapes is wayyy nigher in middle east, india, and other african countries. in us, there are beaches where everyone wears a bikini...but no-one goes about raping people right? it is a matter of respecting another human being.

this is because our girls are more western and boys are not , i am not asking girls are wrong, they should wear these in parties of family fanctions where they feel safe but not on roads or street. but when you are wearing short & tight cloths it attract mens to see, so be parctical this is the ugly truth of maximum indian mens, spacially when they are seeing porn on mobiles or website and seeing girls in such wearing , some of peoples doing crime such like what happened in delhi. so stop porn and short & tight wearing on roads. and make rules like saudi arabia.

the real problem is that this type of habit of giving direction or say lessons mostly comes from politicians and not from any professor or any qualified person. where most of politicians ( mp, mla, cms etc.) does not bother to follow the minimum code of conduct . but they are busy only giving lessons. sometimes it feel that they got the contract of giving knowledge only and not for following these instructions by themselves. like some days before no 1 of a political party gave instruction that people having rape complaints should not be allowed to contest election. and other crimes like murder, cheating , forgery or booked by cbi for any major crime is not a crime which would prevent one in contesting election. time has come not only to isolate those but also a major wake-up calls from new generations like recent movement of students in delhi bus rape case is highly needed to wash out these dirty elements.

a very good article. but i would like to comment here in reply to dasu.
i have been reading such comments blaming the western culture for such activities. but at the same time people forget that we come to know about such cases because they are reported at the first place. people in cities like delhi or mumbai are modern enough to stand up to fight against crime happened with women. if you think about the rural areas or villages, people feel lodging such complaints would only harm their image in society and bring them embarassment. and even if they show some guts to do so they likely to be threatened.
if it had been the effect of weternization then there should have been more such cases in western countries and none in ancient india. also if you study these cases happening in cities you may find many accused are from small villages of india. so i guess by blaming western culture you are indirectly pointing finger at how girls in cities conduct themselve.
istead of blaming any culture, be it western or easter, you need to dig deeper to find the root cause, which is according to me is that most of the men in our society don`t treat women as a human being and an entertainment object instead. they might worship the godesses but they lack respect towards women around them.

this article is as stupid as the one which it criticises. has any of these ladies ever given a thought to advise mothers to bring up their sons giving respect to women and sisters, cousins in the family? do they oppose the hindi and other desi movies and serials which show violent , vulgar, degrading female characters instead of any subsatance or virtue ? where these rapists came from ? aren`t their mothers also responsible for bringing up such children? is the education given in india create any value system ? one last question, why the same hype was not created when a lonely young 21 year old girl was killed during a failed rape attempt by a security guard ? because media chose this one to be more suited for their business interests ?

we don`t need lakshman rekha or lord ram to come and save womenkind , why can`t we have parents teaching their sons to uphold the dignity of women ? for that the men have to treat their house women with respect and honour ,and to teach them to be as strong as men , and most importantly not to label them as paraya dhan

very well said gayatri. i wish i could give you a medal for this speech. why don`t you have the same discussion with rapists. maybe he too will agree and with eyes filled with tears, will apologize to you for his intensions.

solution to this problem as i see 1)girls should be made stronger as a person by making some physical defense training such as karate in school

2) punishment to rape should not be made to kill him, rather to make him feel ashamed or embarrassed for his deeds

3) last but not the least, everyone men and women should understand their social responsibility (remembered a statement from satyamev jayte. why to blame government? what would government do ? will government provide 80 crore constables behind 80 crore people for protection ?)

girl...sister...wife....mother. a girl`s life is always 4 someone but nt 4 herself. a guy who can respect his mother n sister can always respect girls out side. no matter ram , laksman rekha etc. its abt the heart n mind wid which he`s brought up.

i am completely agree with gayatri`s view, but we need to understand deeply the root cause for these exploitation aginst women in the male dominated society.fisrtly if you analysis statistics of crime agianst women since last five years, the you can notice that case of rapes ,harrashing women (by family relatives),dowary case etc are reported more in the cities like delhi, mumbai and comapartively less in chennai, kolkata.

the point waht i want to make here is these cities are considerd as driven by western values and people here think themselv as modern, be it their dressing, habits, living standards.
what we call modern today will be outdated tommorow,so there is need to lead a life based on values and ethics by which there will balance in society and we can have harmonious relationship with each other.

agian i want to make sure that neither i support male gender nor female.i just want to convey that everyone must abide by some values or ethics which can suppress social diseases casued by human being turning as animal.

each individual has been granted his freedom of expression, speech and life. what might be cultural to you might be not to someone else. the issue here concerns safety of women and not a moral science lecture. only day before was there a gang rape near chennai. instead of dealing with the whole value and culture system let us first lay down the rules, nothing i mean nothing can be an incitement to rape, tease or be agressive towards women. neither their clothes, nor their way of living, nor their drinking or working late. nothing.

i wonder why only women are targetted. dont the men and boys follow the western values be it smoking, alochol, fasion. so why gender bias the issue. why cant we educate our children or even include moral teachings in the syllabus.

is that right? that there have been more cases in metro cities? or is it that the sufferer in smaller cities don`t even know where to complain and whether to bring up the issue in public.?

why is that the women victim is blamed always. i have seen comments comparing women to gold and that burglars are motivated if you see gold. this again is comparision of women as inanimate objects. the hypocritcal culture pervades with the belief that man is the protector and destructor of women. if women want protection they need to be under a man`s protection. it doesn`t matter whether it is sitadevi or durgadevi. sad but true

the `immature` interpretation of freedom can also lead to such horrific incidents. freedom/liberation should be treated as a priviledge and not a birth right. if a person abuses their freedom or does not demonstrate maturity in exercising it then there is little that the society and government can do to protect them. it is too costly (often impossible) for the society to ensure safety for every one if they are willing to test the limits of their own freedom. a person is accountable for their own safety and well-being and one should not rely solely on the society or the government to provide justice after the damage has been done. if one exercises maturity and responsibity in exercising their freedom then i do not see a reason why they should feel threatened in loosing it.

very true. the politicians should rather start advicing men to behave like lord ram than asking women not to cross the lakshman-rekh. it’s the height of hypocrisy.

draw one.
have a sita who goes out searching for ram with a bow and arrow, and leaves lakshman behind the protection of the rekha,
so that mandodri does not abduct him.
as long their would be ravans the best protection woyld be lakshman rekha.
waiting for the day to dawn when every human problem has an academic solution.

lakshman rekha is lakshman rekha. irrespective of men-women who ever crosses, they will be in deep trouble.if a women or girl goes in midnight alone semy naked that means she is crossing lakshman rekha. provoked by this if a men or boy rapes her he has crossed lakshman rekha. so it is better everybody not to cross lakshman rekha.

ok if a woman is semi naked in midnight then there may be many different scenarios happening:1.she might be mentally ill 2. she might be running away from some one physically abusing her 3.she might have been violated and ofcourse she actually might be decently dressed according to her standards but according to the man seeing her she may be semi naked.so instead of trying to figure out whether any of the reasons is true you will just rape her because she has crossed some lakshman rekha.i see somany men taking out their male organ in the middle of streets and urinating.that is as naked as it can get right?why do i never get the urge to go and humiliate/violate them.if women are semi naked its a problem but if men are actually taking out their organ in public its quite alright?btw where is the lakshman rekha for men?

there is nothing like lakshman rekha, gone are the days of lakshman rekha, phekas. every women has rights to wear anything she likes if she is mature enough to maintain it. when women is matured enough no matter what she wears men respect it. women should have a matured body language. this is a mordern age and age of freedom and equality for all man kind irrespective of men and women. so, i strongly feel women must and should learn some kind of marshall arts to defend herself and be mature to tackle the serious situations in her personal life. when women behave mature enough men tend to respect them automatically.

i lived in delhi till the age of 21, in constant fear of attack, despite not possessing any of these titillating outfits that you spoke of. my lakshman rekha was that i was born female - just breathing meant that those who wanted to pass comments or assault me had every right. with educated people like you writing something so insensitive, i suppose all of us should have just asked the earth to swallow us like sita, the minute we were born. you obviously have some women in your family. i challenge you to find a single one who has not been molested in broad daylight. you sir, are the reason women get raped. because it is always made out to be our fault that we get molested, raped, or even killed.

valid point..well made..
statements like those said by kailash vijayvargiya can be said by those people only who really don`t care until the victim is one of their acquaintances.

if the two girls who wrote about bal thackrey on facebook could be mentally tortured by the police people.. i think the same should be applied to the politicians as well..

the basic fact is evading attention about the recurrence of this kind of sad episodes, perennial. women should leave fear and fight this problem. men also should know why such things happen.

it is all ignorance. it is all about a spirit inside every being, how it functions. as you sow so you reap. unfortunately everything happens unconsciously because sowing depends on where you are born and how you are brought up. it is a divine system working inside every individual self and no one has control unless he or she is aware of this fact. we are all from same source. everybody is in a wakeful dream state unaware of knowing what is happening inside himself or herself.

if you are practicing yoga, you can visualize within you there is a theater of evils and virtues and which come to our conscious perception. there is rama, ravana, sita and shurpanaka in every one. one will become rama, if he follows sadhana from enlightened to transcend and the same. it is a kind of evolution, a big process. one will continue to be ravana if he continues to remain ignorant of this fact. no iron laws will work.

this is kaliyuga. the young boys and girls are exposed to lot many evils. the only way to make them rugged is introducing spiritual science as curriculum at every stage in our education system.

the media, instead of dramatizing this issue should contribute constructively on these lines. there is no dearth of selfless spiritual luminaries in our country. they can contribute. the media should call for open discussions to solve this problem at root level. the government should initiate steps to bring about appropriate steps to totally revamp our education system by introducing spiritual science at various levels of education system.

whatever you say can be assumed to be right, but have you tried to analyze the actual problem and where it lies?
can we blame our tv sets and movies which spoil minds of boys and girls by showing vulgarity even our radio stations which indirectly pass on many vulgar messages?

problem lies in ` i ` . not `u` or `we`. its the way one`s heart n mind is brought up. either to take good and learn or to take up bad from things depends on an individual.

i do understand that things are not so good in our country now. but blaming every men in this country is too much.

why do you think that all men are like `kailash vijayvargiya`?
who gave you the right to evaluate `indian men` based on some rubbish speach by a politician ?
why do you think that all men want to rule women [you wouldn`t have written this column, if your father/husband wanted to rule you]?

``the society is full of people like the abhijit mukherjees, the kakoli ghoshs and the kailash vijayvargiyas who behave nothing less than the way khaps do- perhaps sophisticated versions of the orthodox system infamous for ridiculing women``

you are safe today because of some men, probably your husband, father or some security men. so, stop blaming all the men in this country. moreover, have you ever thanked any of these men, who have helped and protected you till now ?

neither i`m saying everyone is good, not i`m saying everyone is bad. but as everything there are two sides of coin. there are gud guys as well as bad guys.

politicians can say any rubbish things as they know that none of their family members will have to go through this as they have security men around them all the time, and that is one of the reason why they are not so keen on immediate actions. don`t just jump into action to write something like this blaming all of them.

i`m a man, and i respect you.

every one should learn a lesson from this brutal case, especially all the women of this age. and must and should learn any one of the marshall arts to defend themselves from any situation and be alert and be matured enough to avoid any serious situations. then no need for anyone u can be independent of anything being confident and bold enough.
