Kangana Ranaut may essay Arunima Sinha in biopic after completing Manikarnika

Mumbai: Kangana Ranaut hasn’t had a great time at the Box Office this year. Vishal Bhardwaj’s Rangoon and Hansal Mehta’s Simran proved to be complete disasters. However, her performances in both the films were appreciated. She is currently shooting for Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, a film that narrates the inspiring tale of Rani Lakshmibai.

And if the latest buzz is anything to go by, the three-time National Award winning actress will do another biopic after completing Manikarnika.

According to a report in India.com, Kangana has been roped in for a film on Arunima Sinha, the first woman amputee to climb Mount Everest.

“The biopic on Arunima will be shot in a straight 60-day schedule. Kangana is currently shooting for the Rani Laxmi Bai biopic in Jaipur. Once the schedule ends in December, she will sign on the dotted line. The director will be finalised in a month,” a leading daily quoted a source as saying.

Reports also suggest that Kriti Sanon was also being considered by the makers but Kangana had the upper hand.

Dar Motion Pictures will tell the life story of 29-year- old Arunima, a national level volleyball player who was pushed from a running train by some robbers in 2011 while she was resisting them. As a result, one of her legs had to be amputated below the knee.

Besides scaling Mt Everest, she has climbed Kilimanjaro in Africa, Elbrus in Europe, Kosciuszko in Australia, Aconcagua in Argentina and Carstensz Pyramid (Puncak Jaya) in Indonesia, showing that when the going gets tough, the tough get going.

"After long deliberations, a decision to make a film on my life's journey has been taken and it is likely to be completed by next year," Arunima told PTI.

Arunima said the film will be made in Hindi and later it will be released worldwide with sub-titles.
