New Delhi: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmavati has garnered enough eyeballs ahead of its mega release on December 1, 2017. The period film stars Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmini, Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji respectively.

However, the movie has been in the news ever since it was announced. The film has received a backlash from certain sects from Rajasthan protesting against its release. Huge protests broke out in Chittorgarh wherein people joined in to stall the film's release, reported ANI.

A bandh has been observed in the state against the film. Earlier, members of Rajput Karni Sena had vandalised an artiste's Padmavati rangoli at a mall in Surat which had drawn the attention of leading lady Deepika Padukone too.

She had even tweeted about the incident and expressed his displeasure. The same group had vandalised the sets of Padmavati at Jaigarh Fort while they were shooting and abused the filmmaker, asking him to stall the movie. The fringe group had reservations over the way Bhansali might have presented facts in the film.

Pramod Rana, the national convenor of Rajput Karni Sena had previously told ANI, “We cannot give permission to tamper with the rich history of India. The only thing that we want is that Sanjay Leela Bhansali should show the movie to some of the foremost people of our organisation and tell them that we are not tempering any fact of the history. If he has shown some wrong facts in the movie, then he should delete that scene. This matter is not about one caste. It is everyone's right to save the heritage of the Indian history."

"I don't need to tell you what we will do. You saw Jaipur, Kolhapur, I don't think I need to you anything. We are doing a programme on November 12 in Gujarat. But if the movie releases with wrong facts, we won't leave Bhansali," Rana added.

Further, he even added about the fact that how Bhansali had promised to show the film but eventually did not. "In Jaipur, Bhansali promised in writing that he will show the movie to us with right historical facts. But he did not show us the movie”, he said.
