Rishi Kapoor slams Anurag Basu after son Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Jagga Jasoos’ turns out to be a dud!

Mumbai: Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor has lashed out at ‘Barfi!’ filmmaker Anurag Basu for delaying his son Ranbir Kapoor’s film ‘Jagga Jasoos’. Senior Kapoor saw the film just a day before it released and is unhappy because the final product wasn’t shown to his son, who also happens to be the producer of the flick.

While talking to Mid-Day, Kapoor said, “Till Wednesday, Anurag Basu was still mixing the film. Can you imagine that? Pritam [composer] probably delivered the music only a week before. What can you say? You (here, Basu) don't take an opinion from anybody. Today's filmmakers are doing this with everybody. They don't show their films before release to take opinions, and treat it as though they're making a nuclear bomb.”

“It is ridiculous that a producer hadn't seen his product a day ahead of the film's release. You may be the biggest director in the world but nobody would like to work with you because you are irresponsible,” Kapoor added.

‘Jagga Jasoos’ which also stars Katrina Kaif was way behind its schedule. The film took too long to complete and the release got postponed twice! Despite being packaged as a Children’s film, ‘Jagga Jasoos’ didn’t release during summer when kids have long vacations!

Senior Kapoor is also upset because Govinda was dropped from the film.

However, Rishi was grateful to Basu for giving a film like ‘Barfi!’ to Ranbir.

“I don't interfere in Ranbir's career and I do not get to know anything either. I would like to add here that I am grateful to Anurag for giving Ranbir a lovely film like Barfi! But why hide a film? All big filmmakers, including my father (Raj Kapoor), Rakesh Roshan and Aamir Khan show their films, so why can't you?”.

‘Jagga Jasoos’ hit the silver screen on July 14 and has minted over Rs 45 crores.
