Audi launches first hybrid vehicle in Japan
Tokyo: Audi Japan Monday started selling the Audi A6 hybrid car in Japan, its first launch of a hybrid vehicle in the Japanese market.
The vehicle, priced at 6.9 million yen (USD 88,465), has a fuel economy of 13.8 kilometers per liter, making it around 17 percent more fuel efficient than the non-hybrid A6 model, the automaker said.
Audi Japan aims to sell 250 units of the vehicle in Japan by the end of this year and 700 units in 2013, Audi Japan President Hiroshi Okita said at a press conference.
He also said that the firm plans to launch a hybrid version of the partly renovated Audi Q5 SUV car next year in Japan.
The hybrid model of the A6 hit the global market last year.
