New Delhi: Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt will be seen sharing screen space with Amitabh Bachchan in ‘Department’ and he says it is an experience in itself to work with the megastar.
The 52-year-old actor, who has starred opposite Bachchan in films like ‘Hum Kisise Kum Nahin’, ‘Kaante’, ‘Eklavya’, ‘Viruddh’, says he feels privileged to have worked with the veteran in so many films.
"It is an experience in itself to work with Mr Bachchan. I feel privileged to have worked with him in so many films. I still get nervous in front of him but he makes us all very comfortable," Dutt said.
In "Department" directed by Ram Gopal Varma", Dutt plays Inspector Mahadev Bhosle, the leader of an encounter squad.
"Department is a commercial film with a meaning. It has undercurrent violence. It deals with the Anti Terror Squad that was set up in the 90`s to eradicate the underworld."
This is not the first time the actor has played a cop. He has previously donned the uniform for films like ‘Kurukshetra’, ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’, ‘Ilaaka’ among others.
"I wish I could play a cop like Chulbul Pandey (played by Salman Khan) or Singham (played by Ajay Devgn) but in the film we are dealing with serious issues and that required a different kind of treatment," Dutt added.
The actor also praised his co-star Rana Daggubati, who plays his accomplice in the film.
"I am not his guide but I am like Rana`s big brother. I will always help him as my younger brother. He is very dedicated towards his craft something which I don`t see in other young actors of today. I think his attitude towards his career is very commendable," he said.
"He has an advantage over all of us in Bollywood because he can speak Hindi as well as Telegu and can always go back and do Telegu films," Dutt joked.
‘Department’ will hit the theatres on May 18.
