Mumbai: Post the much written about fallout between Karan Johar and Rishi Kapoor, ‘Wake up Sid’ director Ayan Mukerji was in a fix. The talented director was under dilemma as to which camp to join – the protégés or the friends?
Well, Bollywood is not new to warring groups. Tussle between two bigwigs often result in restructuring of existing camps in the industry. So, when KJo brushed Rishi the wrong side, Ranbir’s good friend and KJo’s favourite director, Ayan Mukerji couldn’t think as to whom to choose.
Buzz has it that Ayan has opted to leave Karan Johar’s camp and stick around with buddy Ranbir.
Insiders confirm that Ayan choosing Ranbir over Karan caused KJo a lot of heartburn. A top source speaking to a daily said, “Ayan aur Karan ka jhagda bahut badh gaya hai.”
The source further added, “Ayan has spoken to some big officials at Studio 18 and pitched his project asking them if they would like to produce his film. Studio 18 has welcomed him. Talks are on. Let`s see what happens.”
Another source, who is from Ayan`s neighbourhood, said, “We knew Ayan will stick with Ranbir. He can always move out from Dharma Productions and yet continue to make films."
Ayan, however, hasn`t yet confirmed that Ranbir will star in this film.
“But that is obvious. Ayan is simply holding his cards close to his chest. He wants his second big break very soon. ‘Wake Up Sid’ (which starred Ranbir) is over and gone”, said the source.
