Demi Lovato says she has self-harmed since rehab

Demi Lovato occasionally relapses into self-harm and throwing up even after her release from the rehabilitation centre.

Washington: Demi Lovato has disclosed that she occasionally relapses into self-harm and throwing up even after her release from the rehabilitation centre.
Lovato was admitted to a treatment facility for three months in November 2010 to receive help for an eating disorder and self-harming. The ‘Skyscraper’ singer also confessed that she can never fully recover from her issues but is making every effort to keep them under control. “I cannot tell you that I have not thrown up since treatment. I cannot tell you that I have not cut myself since treatment. I’m not perfect,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying in her new ‘Stay Strong’ documentary on MTV. “An addiction is an obsession, something that takes over your mind and your every thought. You think that you can’t live without it. For me, it was not eating and purging and self-harming,” she added. Lovato - who was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder while in treatment, further revealed that her troubles stemmed from insecurity and feeling she was “living a lie”. “I was looking in the mirror and never feeling good enough. I felt like I was living a lie. I was dealing with all this pain, emotionally. And I felt guilt and shame. I decided to take it out on myself. I harmed myself,” she said. ANI
