Madonna could be sued by ‘Girls Gone Wild’ creator over Super Bowl song

Madonna has been sent a cease and desist letter by Joe Francis, threatening legal action if she sings her new song.

Washington: Madonna has been sent a cease and desist letter by ‘Girls Gone Wild’ creator Joe Francis, threatening legal action if she sings her new song - with the same name as his company- at the Super Bowl.
While Madonna has confirmed she’ll sing her latest single ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’, at Sunday’s big game, the rest of her 12-minute set list remains under wraps, and if Francis can help it, ‘Girls Gone Wild’ - which is included on her upcoming album ‘MDNA’ - won’t be make the cut. According to TMZ, Francis’ lawyer David Houston says in the letter that he’ll sue Madonna and her “co-conspirators” for getting a “free ride on the valuable consumer goodwill and brand recognition” of the ‘Girls Gone Wild’ trademark held by Francis, Us magazine reported. “Mr Francis and Girls Gone Wild have worked tirelessly for an excess of two decades to build his brand and to protect his trademark Girls Gone Wild,” the letter said. “Obviously, your misappropriation of my clients’ trademark will not to be tolerated,” it added. Francis and Houston have demanded a response soon. ANI
