New Delhi: Auto major Mahindra & Mahindra on Tuesday said it has opened its fourth tractor assembly facility with an installed monthly capacity of 500 units in the US through its authorised distribution centre in Bloomsburg.

"Mahindra USA recently opened its fourth North American assembly and distribution facility in Bloomsburg, PA," Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) said in a statement.

The Mahindra Authorized Distribution Center in Bloomsburg will specialise in M&M's new products - the Max series and compact tractors - both of which were developed primarily for the US market, it added.

Commenting on the development, M&M President (Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors) Pawan Goenka said: "The opening of this newest assembly and distribution center represents our commitment to growing our tractor business in North America".

The new facility will provide support and service to Mahindra's northeast US and eastern Canadian dealers and partners, he added.

"The center, to be operated in partnership with TPC Power Center, will also create a positive impact on the Bloomsburg and surrounding area's economy," Goenka said.

The distribution facility will also allow M&M to recruit new partners that will provide service and support to new customers, the company said.

On the plant's production capacity, M&M Chief Executive (International Operations -- Automobile and Farm Sectors) Ruzbeh Irani said: "Initially, the facility will assemble 200 Mahindra tractors per month with the capacity to produce 500 per month... (The unit) will employ up to 30 people in the operation as it moves into full production".
