London: Actor Martin Sheen is hoping to return to Europe and tackle the 497-mile (800-kilometre) El Camino de Santiago pilgrimage alone and on foot before he dies.
The former `West Wing` star drove part of the way with his grandson in 2003 and returned to the route to shoot new film `The Way with his son Emilio Estevez`, but he has yet to do it properly, reported Sun online. And, just like his latest film character, the 71-year-old is planning to walk from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France to the Spanish town of Santiago de Compostela, where the remains of St James, the apostle of Jesus, are believed to be buried -just like other pilgrims. "I`ve done it in a car, I`ve done it in a film and I still look forward to doing it with no camera, no car, no phone; just me and a walking stick. I would love to do it," he said. PTI
