Japanese car maker Nissan Motor Thursday said it has set an ambitious target of selling one lakh units of cars in the domestic market in current fiscal on the back of new launches.

"India is a key strategic market for us and we have set a target of selling one lakh units in this financial year which we intend to achieve with the launch of new models," Nissan Motor India Vice President Ajay Raghuvanshi told reporters here Thursday.
Nissan Motor clocked sales of 33,000 in 2011-12 and 37,000 units in 2012-13, he informed.
The company Thursday rolled out two variants of its hatchback Micra Active and New Micra here.
Micra Active will be available in the price range of Rs 3.50 lakh and Rs 4.71 lakh while premium New Micra model will carry price tag of Rs 4.79 lakh till Rs 7.14 lakh, both petrol and diesel.
The company has been able to sell 43,000 units of Micra since its launch in the year 2010.
"With the launch of new models of Micra, its share in total sales will expand from 35 to 50 percent," he said.
Nissan Motor, which currently has 1.5 percent market share in country?s passenger car market, has plans to roll out 10 new models by 2016-17, aiming to cover all the segments in automotive industry.
"We have already launched Sunny CVT and now we are launching two variants of Micra. This year, we will also bring SUV Terrano and next year, we will launch Datsun for Indian market," he said.
He said the company is eyeing an overall market share of 10 percent by 2016-17 when the Indian car market would cross 5 million units.
The company has also plans to ramp up its dealership network to deepen its presence in domestic car market.
"To ensure good sales and after sales service across the nation, we are planning to increase our dealer networks at a rapid pace," said company?s Director Sales and Marketing Nitish Tipnis.
Nissan has plans to expand its dealership network from 95 to 300 by 2016-17.
