New Delhi: Auto major Mahindra & Mahindra on Thursday launched a new version of its sedan Verito in both petrol and diesel options, priced between Rs 5.27 lakh and Rs 7.14 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

While launching the model, the company said the car will compete with rivals like Maruti Suzuki's DZire and Toyota Kirloskar Motor's Etios.

Let’s have a look on the various aspects of the new Verito that can place it in line with DZire and Etios in the entry-level sedan range.

Design: The new Verito has got a very stylish look. It has a refreshed and redesigned bumper which is better than the former Verito model. The revamped front fascia with new headlamps makes it a lot more appealing. There are about 23 changes in the new Verito, making it `seductive` with attractive style quotient.

Car Interiors and space: The interiors have lighter colors and revise control set. Rotary knobs have been provided for climate control, internal circulation as also the music system. There is a lot of space in the car—most commendable is the legroom that the car provides. If you want to go on for a long distance travel, the car with full capacity for five people won’t disappoint you.

Performance Touted to have the second most powerful engine used in India, the Verito boasts of Renault 1.5 LDCi diesel engine and Renault 1.4 L MPFi petrol engine. It creates a torque figure of 160 Nm from as low as 2,000 rpm, which means that in busy streets or in traffic commotion, you won’t have to bother about changing gear every second. The mileage of the car, if not astounding, is not bad either. For approximately 16 Kmpl, it has an edge over other entry level sedans

Pricing: On the price front, the car will face a stiff competition from DZire and Etios. The upper limit of both DZire and Etios are higher than that of the Verito. But the main competition is on the basic price point. The diesel variant coming with 1.5 litre engine has three options priced between Rs.6.26 lakh and Rs.7.14 lakh. The petrol variant powered by a 1.4 litre engine is priced at Rs.5.27 lakh.

DZire is currently available between Rs 4.88 lakh and Rs 7.35 lakh, while Etios is sold at Rs 5.14-8.23 lakh.
