Zeebiz BureauMumbai: Maruti Suzuki seeks to demolish competition in the small car segment with unleashing a diesel engine that could possibly become the next family name in the household of diesel cars.
Codename E2 — a small two-cylinder 800cc diesel engine is being developed at Suzuki Motors in Japan. The new diesel engine would be capable of delivering 40 horsepower with a fuel efficiency of 28-30 kilometres per litre.
The new engine is being tested in the parent company and could make it to the Indian roads aboard the next-generation of the Alto.
The good news is it’s quite real, though it won’t become a reality till 2015.
The Maruti Suzuki 800 carved a name for itself since the 80s, and with this new engine it will chalk out another passage for itself in the industry.
