Ford may launch EcoSport by June end

New Delhi: Global auto major Ford is expected to launch its new compact sports utility vehicle 'EcoSport' by June-end.

"After completion of the campaign, the company will formally launch EcoSport in the Indian market. Most probably by June end it will be launched," a source said.

The company Friday announced launching of a campaign for this sports utility vehicle (SUV) from May.

Under the campaign, the company will choose 100 consumers who will get the opportunity to drive the vehicle and share their experiences.

Ford India President and Managing Director Joginder Singh said 100 consumers will be selected by a jury. The participants have to upload their views about the vehicle on www.Ecosportdiscoveries.Co.In, which will be evaluated by the jury.

The campaign will be held in 12 cities starting from Delhi and Mumbai. It will be a kind of roadshow. The company also opened Ecosport Urban Hub to engage people.

"Consumers across these 12 cities will have an opportunity to see, touch and feel their EcoSport every weekend leading up to the launch," he said.

Singh added, "We have taken a step further by giving them an opportunity to drive and experience the EcoSport out in the open and share their product experience."

The Ecosport line-up will include four trims, giving consumers a choice of three engine options including manual transmission and an automatic transmission option in petrol version," said Singh.
