New Delhi: Complementing Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal for doing a commendable job, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh termed Railway Budget 2013-14 as reformist and forward looking that presents Budget which presents a realistic picture of Railway finances.
“The Railway Minister has done a commendable job in meeting competing demands of improving services and controlling expenditure,” the PM said.
“I compliment the minister for his innovations in critical areas of Railway infrastructure and paving the way for capacity expansion,” he added.
Rail Minister Bansal presented his first ever budget on Tuesday. The minister chose not to increase passenger fares but announced steps that will lead to increase in freight rates.
He also announced the introduction of 67 new express trains.
