Kate and William to tour US, Canada

Prince William and Kate Middleton will make their first official overseas trip as a married couple.

London: Prince William and Kate Middleton will make their first official overseas trip as a married couple as they travel from Canada to US in late June, royal officials here said.
The British royal couple are expected to travel across Canada, a Commonwealth nation, during their visit from June 30 to July 8, followed by a two-day stop in Los Angeles and surrounding areas. In Canada, they will visit Prince Edward Island, Alberta, the Northwest Territories, Quebec and the capital, Ottawa, St James` Palace officials have said. Canadian PM Stephen Harper had invited the couple to Canada after they announced their engagement in November. "Prince William was pleased to accept the invitation on his and Miss Middleton`s behalf from the government of Canada," officials said. "Prince William was keen to be able to visit Canada for himself as an adult, and to be able to show his wife a country that is close to his family`s heart," they said. During their trip, it is believed the Prince and his royal bride will take part in Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa on July 1. 28-year-old William and Middleton, 29, tied the knot at Westminster Abbey on April 29 this year. William visited Canada in 1998 when he was 15, touring Vancouver with his father the Prince of Wales and brother Prince Harry. The couple`s exact itinerary in US has not yet been made public. This will be William`s first trip to US in an official capacity. The Duchess of Cambridge, however, has never before visited the country officially or privately. PTI
