Prince William and his girlfriend Kate Middleton may have got engaged.

London: Rumours are doing the rounds in Britain that Prince William and his longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton may have got engaged after she`s apparently spotted wearing an engagement ring.

Kate was seen with the ring at a hairdressing salon in London`s Sloane Square, according to `Brides` magazine. The extraordinary claim appeared on the monthly bridal magazine`s Twitter page, which said last week: "Big News! A Brides mole just saw Kate Middleton in Richard Ward hair salon with a MEGA huge engagement ring on!" Hours later another post said: "If anyone missed our earlier tweet: Our Brides mole spotted Kate Middleton having her hair done. Oh, and she was wearing an engagement ring!" the `Sunday Express` reported. But, the leading British tabloid claimed that its own investigation at the salon revealed that 28-year-old Kate, who is a regular for hair and beauty treatments, hasn`t visited in the past week. The current consensus among royal watchers is that the 27-year-old second-in-line to the British throne will pop the question sooner rather than later, with some speculating that an announcement may even be made after this Thursday`s general election, the tabloid said. However, a senior Palace aide said the "sighting" of Kate wearing an engagement ring was "absolutely ridiculous", adding, "It sounds like a classic case of mistaken identity." PTI MOT MOT 05021544
