Katrina apologises for ‘half-Indian’ comment on Rahul Gandhi

Mumbai: Katrina Kaif’s recent comment on Rahul Gandhi’s ‘half-Indian’ nationality did stir up the hornet’s nest in the political circles. However, Kat clarified that she never intended to hurt someone’s sentiments and later apologised for her statement. Apparently, Katrina was fed up of answering questions pertaining to her nationality and was miffed on being asked the same question again for the umpteen times. Frustratingly, she gave a statement to a daily, “Am I supposed to be ashamed that I am half Asian, half European? I mean, no! Rahul Gandhi is half Indian, half Italian. So?” Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari scoffed at Katrina’s comment, saying, “Katrina Kaif, who? I do not know. Tomorrow, you will ask for our reaction on the statement of Johny Lever.” When the media later asked Katrina Kaif to clarify her comment, she said her comments were misconstrued and she never meant hurt to anyone. “The comment has been misconstrued, the comment has been taken out of context, but having said that if I have caused any hurt to anyone, I deeply apologise, I had not the intention (to hurt anyone) at all. But I would also request the media to please not make a controversial issue out of something that was not said with any malice,” Katrina said.
