Gold prices gained by Rs 112 to Rs 29,800 per ten grams in futures trade Wednesday as speculators enlarged their positions in tandem with a firming trend overseas.Read more on Gold 2014 Outlook
At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold for delivery in April climbed by Rs 112 to Rs 29,800 per ten grams after moving in range of Rs 29,748 - Rs 29,825.
Similarly, silver for delivery in March moved higher by Rs 452 to Rs 44,009 per Kg.
Gold in overseas markets, which normally set price trend on the domestic front, moved up by nearly 0.5 percent today.
Spot gold last traded up USD 3.90 or 0.31 percent at USD 1,259.30 an ounce after moving in range of USD 1,252.90 - USD 1,259.50 per ounce. Read more on Commodity Market 2014 Outlook
Meanwhile, gold tumbled by Rs 240 to Rs 30,460 per ten grams at Delhi bullion market on selling by stockists amid a weak trend in global markets.
Silver also eased by Rs 50 to Rs 44,150 per kg due to subdued demand from coin makers.Delhi
Gold of 99.9 and 99.5 percent purity suffered a setback of Rs 240 each to Rs 30,460 and Rs 30,260 per ten grams, respectively. Sovereign held steady at Rs 25,200 per piece of eight grams.
In a similar fashion, silver ready traded Rs 50 lower at Rs 44,150 per kg while weekly-based delivery gained Rs 50 to Rs 43,850 per kg.
Silver coins held steady at Rs 86,000 for buying and Rs 87,000 for selling of 100 pieces. International markets
