Gold prices gained by Rs 188 to Rs 30,435 per ten grams in futures trade Wednesday as market participants enlarged their positions in tandem with a firming trend overseas.Read more on Gold Outlook
At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold for delivery in April moved higher by Rs 188 to Rs 30,435 per ten grams after moving in range of Rs 30,280 - Rs 30,469.
Similarly, silver for delivery in May climbed by Rs 555 to Rs 46,452 per Kg.
Gold in overseas markets, which normally set price trend on the domestic front, extended its gains for second straight day today to its highest in 4-1/2 months as global uncertainty over economic growth and tensions in Ukraine burnished the metal's safe-haven appeal.
Spot gold last quoted up USD 9.30 or 0.69 percent at USD 1,359.80 per ounce after making a high and low of USD 1,365.10 and USD 1,356 in intra-day trade.
Meanwhile, gold fell by Rs 30 to Rs 30,700 per ten grams at Delhi bullion market on sustained selling by stockists against declining demand following the end of marriage season.
However, silver recovered by Rs 170 to Rs 46,100 per kg on increased offtake by industrial units.Delhi
Gold of 99.9 and 99.5 percent purity shed Rs 30 each to Rs 30,700 and Rs 30,500 per ten grams, respectively. It had lost Rs 330 in last two trades.
Meanwhile, sovereign found selective buying from retailers and recovered by Rs 100 to Rs 25,400 per piece of eight grams.
On the other hand, silver ready recovered by Rs 170 to Rs 46,100 per kg and weekly-based delivery by Rs 220 to Rs 45,900 per kg, after falling Rs 1,400 in last two sessions.
Silver coins held steady at Rs 86,000 for buying and Rs 87,000 for selling of 100 pieces. International markets
