New Delhi: In comparison to the second tranche, the third tranche of sovereign gold bond (SGB) scheme has received a very silent response. The latest scheem has only managed to attract 64,000 applications seeking to buy 1,128 kilograms of gold worth Rs 329 crore. The second tranche had seen 3.16 lakh applications for 2,872 kg of gold worth Rs 747 crore
"The trend during the third tranche of SGB shows that the scheme is gradually picking up amongst the investors with increase in awareness and more clarity about the provisions of the scheme," the finance ministry said in a statement.
The scheme was closed for subscription on March 14.
