New Delhi: TiECon will on Friday begin its 11th edition of its entrepreneurial event titled TiECon Delhi 2011 at the Taj Hotel here in the capital, a 2-days event that brings together people who have helped transform India, entrepreneurs who have challenged the status quo, set examples and milestones for many other dreamers.
According to a press statement by TiECon, the two days event promises to be action packed with the UK High Commissioner to India, Sir Richard Stagg, Secretary, Ministry of Communications and IT Mr. R Chandrashekhar and Secretary, Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Mr. Uday Kumar Varma giving the key notes.
Over 1500 entrepreneurs are expected at the event that will dwell on opportunities in infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, social sector in addition to showcasing two dotcom high impact successes --Makemytrip and Naukri, the statement said.
One of the most successful and budding entrepreneurs, Nithya Shanti, will also share transformational ideas for leaders for everyday happiness.
Nokia India’s MD D Shivakumar will also deliver the first Prof CK Prahalad memorial lecture, while other speakers of note include Mr. Ronnie Screwala, Founder and CEO UTV group.
The entrepreneurial event, considered amongst the biggest in Asia, will be celebrating the spirit of entrepreneurship among young and aspiring by focusing on Young achievers Deeya Bajaj, the youngest member of the Trans Greenland Skiing Expedition and Anu Vaidyananthan, Triathletics Champion.
The TiE-Lumis Excellence Awards program will identify fast growing, high potential startups that are breaking new ground with intense passion and innovation.
Special sessions for Early Stage and Growth Stage Companies
A set of special networking lounges will allow TIECon attendees from Early Stage Companies (founded less than 5 years ago) and Growth Stage Companies (operational for over 5 years) to network with peers, investors, potential mentors and service providers.
As per the info given in the statement, senior TiE Charter members, Deep Kalra, founder & CEO, MakeMyTrip.com and Sanjeev Bikhchandani, vice-chairman, Naukri.com, will hold special sessions for Early Stage Companies.
The attendees from Growth Stage Companies will be addressed by Senior TiE Charter Member Alok Mittal, Managing Director, Caanan Partners.
Some of the eminent speakers include Rajan Anandan, Google India; Ashwin Naik, Vatsalya; Dr Mahipal Sachdev, Centre for Sight; Sandeep Sinha, Lumis Partners; Amitabh Kant, Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation and Anita Arjundas, Mahindra Life Space Developers.
Rohtash Mal, Escorts; Anish Gupta, Accenture India; Sanjeev Asthana, I-Farms; Pankaj Sehgal, Sun Technology Group; Ardeshir Contractor, Kiran Energy; TP Chopra, Bharat Light & Power; and Akshat Rathee, Bio Fuels will be participate in sessions on CleanTech, Energy and Agriculture.
Mr. Atul Dhawan, Chairperson of TiEcon 2011 organising committee adds that a series of compelling and innovative sessions planned for TiECon Delhi 2011 include a deal flow session where shortlisted entrepreneurs will get a chance to pitch their plans to scores of national and international investors.
The eleventh TiECon will also see the TiE Institute conduct a series of parallel sessions to equip participants on how to face the hurdles during their entrepreneurial journey--from raising funds and managing finances to effective marketing strategies and attracting talent.
