Aakash 2 all set for a ‘revolutionary’ comeback

New Delhi: The world’s cheapest tablet is back and this time, Aakash 2 appears to have been more loaded and fully packed. Priced at a modest USD 35 (Rs 1,960) for Indian students, critics have already begun terming it as a revolution.

Likely to be launch in early October, Aakash 2 has been termed ‘World changing indeed’ by Forbes magazine, considering that Aakash 1, launched in October 2011, had faced many a hiccup.

Here’s a look at some of the main specifications of Aakash 2 (as per reports):

Touch panel : Multi-touch projective capacity

Processor : Cortex A8-1GHz

RAM : 512 MB compared to the 256 of Aakash 1.

OS : Aakash 2 will run on Android 4.0.3

Sensor : While Aakash 1 had no sensor, Aakash 2 will support G Sensor

Battery : It will be supported by 3,000mAh battery which will give a longer life

Camera : Unlike the first one, Aakash 2 is equipped with a front VGA camera

Network : Aakash 2 will support WiFi

I Think products like Wammy from Wickedleak and Funbook ffrom micromax have already beaten the aaskash in terms of service, features and price This to be honest is a bad show by the goverment of India and a strategy to get votes in 2014 elections-Sagar Makhija -Mumbai

The govt/company should have a practice of calling back the older versions of Aakash as and when newer versions are released in order that the users mostly students get the latest gadgets also there is fear that the old gadgets would pile up as e-waste Govt being the forerunner in this venture should announce this facility to the students etc, to whom the item is meant-venkataramanaiah ramu -bangalore
