`The Shawshank Redemption` oak tree dying

Mumbai: The oak tree, which featured in final scenes of the movie `Shawshank Redemption` is on the verge of dying after a brutal windstorm.

The iconic Ohio oak tree is the place where Tim Robbins` character Andy Dufresne buried a secret stash for his prison pal Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding, played by Morgan Freeman, at the end of the movie, TMZ reported. Red then finds the letter and cash hidden by a rock near the tree to reunite with his friend. The tree has nearly split in half due to the windstorm but it is not clear whether the owners will cut it down or let it stand. The movie is based on the Stephen King novella `Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption`, is considered one of the greatest prison break movies of all time and is famous for memorable lines like, "Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies."
