New Delhi: Smartphones have outpaced classic phones while tablets have become the next ‘IN’ thing in today’s mobile telephone market.

Expanding its low-cost tablet range further, Pantel Technologies Private Limited (PTPL) and BSNL have jointly launched T-Pad IS701C in India.

PTPL, which is said to have a reverse bundling alliance with BSNL, aims to reach to the remote areas of the country.

Let’s take a look at five reasons that might inspire users to buy the Penta T-Pad IS701C tablet.

If you wanted an effortless performance, the tablet’s high-speed 1GHz processor with 512MB DDRIII RAM could be quite alluring. In the low-cost segment this can be well compared with Aakash tablet one and two which is powered by a 366 MHz processor and the latter with a Cortex A8 800 MHz processor.

Camera and battery

It has a built-in front facing camera and microphone for video calling. Penta T-Pad IS701C tablet’s battery boasts of rechargeable 3000mAh lithium-polymer battery. This can be compared with Micromax’s funbook which has a 2800 mAh battery , that gives around 5-6 hours of backup. The battery comparison is tad better than the Funbook.

Display and screen

It has an intuitive touchscreen controls powered by Android OS 4.0. You can browse the web, watch videos on Youtube, check e-mail, and more on a generous 7.0" capacitive screen. With a 16:9 aspect ratio and 16M colors TFT-LCD display, this is certainly going to have a good viewing experience.

You can download and read books, view pages in portrait or landscape with automatic orientation detection on Penta T-Pad IS701C tablet. Here the tablet has a bit of competition from the Funtab or Funbook which allows health application and educational content respectively. The company so far has not mentioned any specifications on these lines.

On the price point, the BSNL Penta T-Pad IS701C tablet definitely has a USP. With better features this tablet has an edge over Aakash tablet, the low cost tablet so far. But if you compare it with other low-cost tablets like that of micromax funbook, Karbonn, Zen mobile or Go Tech’s Funtab, the pricing is tad lower with almost same or better features.
