New Delhi: The delivery of the world’s cheapest smartphone at Rs 251 (less than USD 4) will finally begin from July 7,  as per media reports.

Noida-based Ringing Bells is also gearing up to launch HD LED television which it claims will be another price revolution in the electronics segment.

While the pricing of HD LED television was not disclosed, the company said it will be "another price revolution in the Indian consumer electronics".

The company has claimed to have started shipping Freedom 251 mobile phone to customers, who registered for it, on July 6, but so far no delivery has been reported.

According to Ringing Bells’ Founder and CEO Mohit Goel, they are ready with nearly two lakh ‘Freedom 251’ handsets.

A little-known company Ringing Bells began selling the handset, Freedom 251, via its website in February. But the launch of the smartphone, touted to be the worlds cheapest, swirled into controversy, with some calling it a ponzy scheme.

Ringing Bells Managing Director Mohit Goel claimed that around 30,000 customers had booked the phone despite the glitch and 7 crore people registered for it. The company, however, withdrew the product and refunded the payments to customers following a close scrutiny by government agencies.

Later, the company said that it would deliver the phone on cash-on-delivery mode to those who placed the order.
