New Delhi: In the midst of controversy for India's cheapest phone, Noida-based Ringing Bells has started online refunding of money to customers who had booked the Freedom 251.

As per reports, over 7 crore had registered for the world's cheapest smartphone while some 30,000 customers had paid for the same, online, as there was no cash on delivery option at the time of registration.

However, as controversies related to scam began to pour in, Ringing Bells announced 'Cash On Delivery' option for Freedom 251.

It is now reported that the Mohit Goel promoted company has started refunding cash online.

"There was a lot of negativity around us so we have decided to take money from customers only after delivering phones to them. We are refunding money to those who have paid for booking the phones and giving them an option of cash on delivery," Ringing Bells Director Mohit Goel said.
