HP unveils thinnest, lightest business-class notebook

HP has unveiled their thinnest, lightest notebook ever, weighing in at about two pounds.

To be officially launched at the CES 2016 show in Las Vegas this week, the HP EliteBook Folio is 21 percent slimmer and 15 percent lighter than its predecessor, the HP EliteBook 1020.

In total, the business-class notebook designed for professionals, weighs under 1kg, or 2.2 lbs.

Thinner than an AA-battery at 12.4 mm, the 12.5-inch notebook is designed so that it can lie completely flat, allowing the owner to share the screen easily with others.

Developers also worked with Skype to create an improved collaborative experience with features that include voice audio tuning and noise reduction software, while audio experts Bang & Olufsen were tapped to custom-tune the notebook's audio capabilities.

The result is a notebook that can also double as a conference phone.

The HP EliteBook Folio is expected to become available in March at a starting price of $999 USD.
