Riteish goes by audiences choice, accepts funny films

Mumbai: Experimenting with roles hasn`t yielded the desired change in image for actor Riteish Deshmukh who says his fans refuse to accept him in any other role because he has carved such a niche as a comedy actor.
"I tried breaking out of the comedy genre, but audiences pushed me back into it. I did `Rann` and no one went to see it. I did `Aladin`, no one bothered about it. Whenever I try to do something different, unfortunately they don`t work," Riteish told reporters. "If I were Salman Khan, I would have solo hits every day. I am not Salman Khan so I have to figure it out. I did four films and none of them worked. I had four back-to-back flops before `Housefull` came to me," added the actor. Experience has taught the actor to remain faithful to multi-starrer comedies after four of his films – ‘Kal Kissne Dekha’, ‘Aladin’, ‘Rann’ and ‘Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai’ -- tanked at the box office. "I think action films requires courage. The filmmakers have to figure out whether you can do such films or not. Last action movie I did was `Cash`, but it failed at the Box Office," said Riteish. IANS
