Chinese handset maker Xiaomi on Tuesday claimed that it has sold over 600,000 units of the Redmi Note 3 in India in just two months, a record sale for the company.

New Delhi: Chinese handset maker Xiaomi on Tuesday claimed that it has sold over 600,000 units of the Redmi Note 3 in India in just two months, a record sale for the company.

Hugo Barra, VP Xiaomi made the announcement on a Facebook page.

“We just reached another milestone at Mi India – in just 60 days of weekly sales, we have sold over 6 lakhs units of Redmi Note 3 – our biggest record yet – all thanks to you. I cannot thank you enough for the overwhelming and continuous support. You guys are total rock stars,” Hugo Barra said.

Redmi Note 3 was launched in March and was put up for flash sale every Wednesday with registration for the same. However, for the past few sales, it has been available on open flash sale, i.e. without registration.

The company claimed that in the two months flash sales, it sold over 600,000 units of the Redmi Note 3.

The Redmi Note 3 has been priced at Rs 9,999 for the 2GB/16GB variant while the 3GB/32GB variant has been priced at Rs 11,999.

Redmi Note 3 comes with a 5.5-inch display and is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 650 chipset.

It is a 4G dual SIM handset and runs Android-based OS MIUI 7. It also has a fingerprint sensor.

It also has a 4,050 mAh battery and measures just 8.65 mm at its thickest point. It also has a reading mode to help prevent eye fatigue.

Armed with a 16 megapixel rear camera and 5 MP front camera, users can click selfies with the rear camera using the fingerprint sensor to shoot the image.
